Tutor Bio
I am a current student at University College Dublin and a UCD Entrance Scholar, having achieved 625 points in the Leaving Certificate in 2024. My strongest subjects were Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Spanish, all of which I achieved H1 grades in, and these remain my favourite subjects to teach.
I offer tutoring in these subjects for both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students, driven by a genuine passion for learning and helping others reach their full academic potential. Having completed these courses recently, I have a strong understanding of the exam structures, marking schemes and the common pitfalls students often encounter. This allows me to provide targeted guidance, effective study strategies and clear explanations tailored to each student’s needs.
Alongside my academic achievements, I have a strong background in Spanish. I attended a Spanish language school in Valencia, where I was awarded a CEFR A2 certificate through an Españolé Spanish course. I have also participated in multiple Spanish exchange programmes to Madrid and Barcelona, which greatly enhanced my fluency and understanding of the language in both real-life and exam contexts.
In terms of teaching experience, I have developed my skills through supporting family members and friends throughout secondary school. I gave regular grinds to my brother in Leaving Certificate Ordinary Maths, helping him build confidence in the subject and successfully pass his final exam with flying colours. I have also frequently helped friends with challenging topics, explaining complex concepts in a clear and approachable way. Alongside this, I have excellent notes and resources from my own Junior and Leaving Certificate exams, which I use to support structured and efficient study.
Throughout secondary school, I maintained a strong track record of effective study planning and consistently high academic performance, earning Academic Excellence Awards in both fifth and sixth year, which are awarded to the top students academically. I was also awarded the Biology Prize for achieving the highest Leaving Certificate Biology result in my year. These experiences have shaped my tutoring approach, allowing me to provide clear explanations, targeted practice and proven study strategies that help students improve their understanding and exam results.
