GrindsWorld Tutor: John O'Doherty

Hi my name is John and I am a 20 year old second year student in Commerce in UCD. I sat the Leaving Cert in 2025 and achieved a H1 in Accounting and Business and got a first class honours in first year in Commerce with an A in my accounting module.

I will be doing accounting and business grinds to try make concepts and aspects of both courses that are notoriously ‘difficult’’ seem more accessible and approachable for students.

Accounting is a subject that is feared and misunderstood, but is quite predictable and manageable when looking at previous exam papers. The main part of the business course that is disliked is the ABQ, but I have a formula for success which allowed me to get 80/80 in this section.

My aim is to provide confidence to students so they can achieve what they deserve, and to be strategic and therefore minimise irrelevant learning!
